This is a listing of the variety of ministries we have available. We believe that people grow best in their relationship with Christ by connecting to others and committing to serve in ministry. At SonRise, we want people to have the freedom of choice. God has given each one of us interests, gifts and talents to use in the world. These shared interests form the foundation for building relationships with people inside and outside of the church. It is our hope that finding the right ministry will help in that process.

SonRise’s purpose, stated in Ephesians 4:12-13, is “to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Growing in Christ and preparing God’s people for works of service is our purpose.

 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Discipleship comes with several warning labels, and the scripture passage above is one of them. It costs us greatly to love others like God wants us to. It goes a lot deeper than giving of our time, energy, money, and gifts. It costs us our lives as we know it. This booklet is full of opportunities to love others and be loved. You have been warned!

Discipleship means leaving our comfort zones, a little bit at a time, and even sometimes, drastically. Eventually we might forget where our comfort zones were in the first place. It’s not easy – Jesus never promised it would be. Our only promise is that God is there, carrying us through it all, to the point where we see those warning labels in scripture as worth everything.   

I pray that you will grow in your understanding of and commitment to discipleship this year at SonRise. May you realize the overwhelming blessing and privilege it is to take up your cross and follow Jesus.
